Suggested Resources

While we can’t necessarily vouch for 100% of their content, we’ve curated some of the resources that we’ve found useful with or kids throughout the years.

Books

The Action Bible

The Action Bible

A comic book or graphic novel style retelling of the biblical story.

Ages: 8-12

There are now several versions for different age groups, but we think the sweet spot is 8-12 years old. Both of our boys have read the original version from cover to cover dozens of times.

Jesus Storybook Bible

The Jesus Storybook Bible

Classic biblical stories that place Jesus at the center of the narrative.

Ages: 2-6

“The Jesus Storybook Bible invites children to discover for themselves the one who is at the center of God’s great rescue story — and at the center of their story, too.”

Wingfeather Saga

The Wingfeather Saga

A fictional series with an overtly biblical worldview

Ages: 6-12+

We liken it to Chronicles of Narnia meets Lord of the Rings. We read it as a family, and none of us wanted to stop.

Digital

Lumo Project: The gospel for the visual age

Lumo Project

A video reenactment of the gospels narrated straight from the biblical text.

Ages: 4+

While we’re still advocates of reading the text, we’ve found these videos to be more engaging for younger kids, especially when covering a whole chapter or more.

New City Catechism

The New City Catechism

A modern-day resource to learn the core doctrines of the Christian faith.

Ages: 6+

There’s a book version, but we really like the free mobile app that includes memorization songs. When an applicable situation occurs, we’ll often start the song, and our kids will finish it in unison.
